Maintaining the children.

image

Sweetie pea is always too sweet.

image

I’m so doting this daughter. She always make my day bright everyday.

image

Smile always,

image

My son who had a big pair of eyes

image

And he loves to eat.

image

Sometimes a small bread like this is not enough for him.

image

Smile Ayden

image

The cheeky look on him.

image

And I like the way he smile just like this

image

He is just too sweet!

Many ask how I manage with the two of them? I manage it with little help and it’s their ‘cuteness’ and actions kept me ongoing!

That’s how I can do it! :)

Learning is fun!

image

Every night after all of us finished our dinner, we will conduct lesson time for the kids. That’s about 9pm when we got started everyday.
As it had been a routine that we do that everyday, the children feel ‘weird’ if we didn’t do any activities with them. Normally I’ll conduct a lesson with Ayden, then Adelle and lastly combined lesson like this.

image

So while I’m doing an activity with Adelle, Ayden gets to have a learning through play lesson with Daddy and we will swop whereby Adelle will learn through play activity with Daddy while I conduct lesson with Ayden.
So here, I’m teaching Adelle how to use a floor plan. It’s time she gets into contact with something like this whereby she will learn how to use a map.

image

This was what I mean! Looks simple to us, but can be quite challenging for Adelle. After all its her very first trial! :)

image

When it’s Ayden time for lesson, I did a learnibg through play activity with him the other day. He learns how to use a pair of chopsticks. It’s pretty challenging as its cubes here we are talking about. It’s never easy to pick them up using chopsticks (even myself have difficulties), but it’s good to give him some training.

image

The number was placed on the food mat, then I’ll get Ayden to count the number of carrots to match the same number on the plate. He is doing quite well in a way, but still need more practicing!

image

Lastly, he is trying to ‘pick up’ the carrots using his ‘cutlery’!!

I’ve learn alot too from these learning through play activity. That’s because when I research for more ideas, only then did I realized that I can actually use certain things to conduct a lesson for the children.
That’s how parents and children will learn together and create bonding together!

Of course, I’ve many who don’t agree with me. Why do we have to teach the children that early?
Well, if I don’t start introducing learning through play, conducting lesson ever since my children are infants, I bet they won’t be what they are for now.

Adelle and Ayden interest in learning grew rapidly throughout these few yrs. They will feel
‘ weird ‘ if I didn’t conduct any lesson on certain days. For Eg:Adelle and Ayden already know all the 26 letters by the age of 2. Which means I’ll just have to reinforce with them when they come back from school, rather than to teach letters by letters when they are ‘due’ for learning in sch. In fact, from what I’ve read, Childen brain are like sponge, before the age of 3,they learn very fast. So it will slow down after 3.Thats the reason why I need to input more knowledge into them!

Learn thru play.

image

Sensory experience, playing with vehicles and farm animals using oatmeal.

image

It gets real messy when they are having fun!

image

Personally love this activity as they kids get to mingle around with the texture of oatmeal.

image

Let’s share this.

image

The theme is about farm animals and vehicles.

image

Adelle tried moving the vehicles on the ‘sand’

image

While Ayden tried to move those animals on the ‘sand’

image

I feel Adelle could do a better job in such activity. Simply because she is old enough to do it.

image

While this activity is only good for Ayden as he gets to feel the texture and imagination play. But he messed up everything! :(

image

This was what I’ve prepared for the kids.

image

Another type of play activity which I’ve prepared earlier on for the kids.

image

Another theme. That’s gardening theme and farm animals theme again.

image

Knowing that they will be very into such learning thru play activities.

image

Feel, touch, see is something which the children are learning at such young tender age.

image

It’s even a pretend play activity for pre schooler like Adelle.

image

And it also means that kids like them need more exposure to these plays

image

Only then will they learn even more!

image

Farm animals theme.

image

Garden theme with flowers and birds.

That’s how I feel it’s very important for kids to expose to such play activities. It’s inexpensive, it’s simple yet easy to prepare.

Somehow, the children learn very well from there and is much better than sitting down on the chair and read, write one by one which we used to do that during our generation. For pre schoolers, it’s not the same anymore.

They learn through all these playing.

So have you started yours? :)

6Yrs Customary Anniversary on 16th June 2013

image

The Chew Family.

image

Just before we get started.

image

Adelle with Daddy.

image

Mummy with Ayden.

image

Gave me a gentle smile.

image

The son who wanna join in to choose the type of food he wants.

image

Adelle asked Daddy if it’s nice?

image

And so she gotten to taste it.

image

And son was busy watching the show from YouTube.

image

Hmm, which was should I choose, said Adelle.

image

I shall choose this!

image

Ayden is getting ready to eat.

image

He is too happy to get started!

image

Before she gets started, she wanna pose first!

image

Ayden who doesn’t wish to take pic just like the daddy.

image

This is Daddy share of his lunch on that day.

image

Seated side by side with Ayden.

image

My share of meal on that day.

image

And so, daddy sat with Adelle on that day.

Outdated post again. Well, that’s for our 6yrs Anniversary lunch together with the kids. Yes, each time we celebrate any occasions, we will include the kids with us. This made it more meaningful, isn’t that so? Oh well, that’s my thoughts anyway. :)

A few days before we told Adelle about going for Sushi lunch for the celebration. She was happy and looking forward to it. She asked if she could take the sushi on her own, we said of course!

As for Ayden, he don’t really know much but was pretty excited when the day came, he ate himself sitting by my side while Adelle sits with Daddy. It’s always the case. Because it’s easier for me to handle Ayden, and Dear to handle Adelle as she don’t need much guidance except Ayden. But throughout every meal we went, both of them ate by themselves which we could eat our food in peace. :)

It’s already the 6th years, time really flies so fast! Imagine after 2yrs later, I gave birth to Adelle and 4yrs later to Ayden after our customary, it’s so fast!

Very thankful for every day, and hope for the best every day, every month, every year! :)

Tracing and matching is fun!

image

Hello people!

image

Smile pls? Lately, Adelle did a role play by using a camera to take whatever things she sees. All right, time to invest a mini camera for her?

image

She seems professional, isn’t she? :)

image

Smile baby, smile.

image

Simple hands on by tracing out the different shapes. This activity teaches her to trace out objects.

image

Trying to figure out on how to trace it?

image

Finally, she got it!

image

Smiley son is enjoying himself on the pirate ship.

image

Being satisfied is good son.

image

Somehow I love the way he smile. A gentle smile like this is good enough than a stern look.

image

His serious look vs his smiley look, he looks so much different.

image

Simple matching activity for Ayden. It’s on shapes.

image

To find the right shapes as seen from the picture.

image

Tracing for Adelle and matching for Ayden.

Finally found another activity which both of them can use it as the same time.

It takes them a few minutes to get this activity done up. I feel I should do more activities like this with them. As Adelle gets to trace the objects out while Ayden will find the matching objects. It’s good!

Tracing is important for Adelle as she gets to learn how to follow the object and trace it out.
Matching is good for Ayden because he learns to find the right objects.

In another word, I love this activity!

More Teaching ideas!

image

Colorful teaching aids to teach colors, balancing and more!

image

Look how it stands! All right, this is for the kids to mingle with and I played blowing of ‘candles’  with them.

image

With it, I told them to pretend play using aluminum foil. And so it was fun!

image

Of course, it’s time for another type of hands on. Bento making experience. Well, Ayden helps by trying to cut out the design, and eventually busy eating there! For Adelle, she don’t have the strength to cut out the design so, I gotten her to apply the cheese spread on the bread then.

image

And so, they were all busy with their work.

image

All right, this is the Bento which Adelle had helped me to spread the cheese on the bread.

image

Ayden plays with this activity using tangram. I’ve tried using those shapes to make into a flower, and of course letter a as seen below.

image

Something like this. (pic not rotate yet)

image

Adelle is all smiley with new teaching aids.

image

Something new and interesting for her. Which I find it great! Thks to this newly found website which had lots of free printable teaching aids!

image

All right, all right, this is what Adelle was using. Great!

There were so many activities which I would want to do with my children, but am in the midst of printing the new templates out, or even new ideas which was in the planner but too much to let the kids hands on with.

I can spend 2 hrs in front of the pc while they are napping, researching and sourcing for new templates and ideas.

That’s fun especially when the kids get to enjoy it.

Great learning experience.

image

Let’s get hands on with rice!

image

It’s just another sensory experience for the kids. They have a fun time playing, while I had a hard time cleaning! :)

image

Sensory play does entertain the children and keep them busy for quite a while.

image

The way Ayden picks up the rice and put it into the measuring cup is another great skill for him to learn.

image

While doing his activity, he loves to look at what Adelle is doing as well!

image

And yet little man is trying to show me his little “collection”?

image

It’s truly very hands on for Adelle.

image

The little girl who gets so happy with all these activities.

image

Happy Adelle

image

This is what the material is needed.

Good activity which allows the kids to hands on with. They can play for the longest time using this.

I always believe in hands on activities like this, as kids learn through all these playing, since it can benefit the children, why not? :)

Although it gets messy at the end of it, but it’s fun and they get to learn something, train their fine motor skill, so it’s a good activity to play with at the end of the day.

Key chain paint art as one of the item for the goodies bags.

image

Look, I’ve collected these key chain paint art for the children Birthday. It’s meant to be one of the item in the goodies bags for their sch and combined birthday celebration next mth.

I’ve seen these when one of Adelle classmate gave this as the goodies bags. Finding it interesting and decided to source for it by google – ing… And I found it by chance!

It’s like only $1.15 for one like this and comes with 4 different colors of paint, one key chain paint art, one paint brush.

I feel it’s a good buy to give as one of the items in the goodies bags.

image

And so, I’ve decided to paste the barbie/Mickey logo from the print out on the key chain paint art pack. Looks unique isn’t it? So now I believe you know why I’ve printed so many barbie and Mickey templates?

I’ll post all the diy stuff which I’ve done In colors after the celebration. Meanwhile, it’s meant to be a surprise.

Let's talk about Bento!

image

Lately when the husband went to the place where I’ve stayed for more than 20yrs,Bukit Panjang for lunch, he visited Daiso at Plaza which he found these new picks an forks!

He send me this image and I was like “wow!!” Buy it then! And so, I own these eventually and it’s another new collection to my Bento journey!

image

So the week after, when we pop by Square 2 after Ayden finishes his lesson at GuG, we went to Ntuc for a walk and at one glance, I saw this alphabet cutters! Yes I’ve been looking for this type of cutters for the longest time! Online, it was selling like more than $10,here (although the design is not fantastic), I gotten it for $6,its such a cheap deal, isn’t it?

These are the few Bento accessories which I’ve found over the past two weeks.

It been sometime ever since I posted pictures of my Bento gallery. The phone is “floated”  with these images. I think I’ll post it very soon, I promise. :)

All about the buying of new teaching materials.

image

Lately, I rearrange some of my teaching materials. These had been store in my idea storage containers till I think I gotta make space for more homemade teaching aids instead. So these teaching materials gotta place it on the table, easy to access anyway.

image

I feel it good to get this. To make a sentence using these words. It’s good for Adelle as she learns to read using these. Good for Ayden as he can learn about colors.

image

And so, we gotta this dots ink thingy for the children. Not cheap! Cost us $29.90. We gotten it anyway since I’ve been thinking to get this for very long and this is the cheapest price we can get. There are so many activities to do with this!

Look, there are simply too many things to get for the children. We can do it slowly, as I can’t catch up with the activities which I’ve found!

So all these buying of the teaching materials tend to get slower. I won’t buy all at a time but do it at a slower rate. Beside so, some of the teaching materials can be use for other type of activities.

For now, I think I’ve got enough. :)
