Let’s learn about the right approach in early childhood teaching

image

:when my children were an infant, I’ve used right brain training approach with flashcards and hands on activities(even till now for my 4/2yo)..Today I’m a happy Mummy as I’ve taught them the very basic thingy, that’s to create their learning interest from the very young age. Till this age, I don’t have to worry about them going to Pre school whereby they know the basic themes that will be taught in pre school without the need to worry about them not able to learn well. When Adelle goes to Pre-N, she mastered most of the themes, same thing gotta happen to Ayden next yr, he knows most of it as well….

I’m one who don’t believe in learning by memorizing, writing and reading of books. I believe more on hands on. When children get hands on, they will learn better this way as they learn by playing which will somehow go into their brains faster than by just reading it.

During my time, my parents doesn’t have this ‘belief’ or rather they don’t have much knowledge in this. (maybe it’s not so popular during their time yet) This is the reason why I dislike and can’t excel in my studies.

Today, I had better understanding on learn thru play and to create the child learning interest from very young, I’ll be sure to start this with my children. And that’s what I’m doing now.

As such, I’m also very thankful and happy that my children are learning very well and we’re always so excited when come to lesson time with me.

Most importantly is they already know most of the basic things that will be taught in Pre – N or Nursery, not forgetting how enjoyable they were each time I try any new activities with them.

Keep up the good work, my children.

Parenting journey.

image

Adelle and Ayden who kept me busy with everyday. I’m enjoying every moment with them.

image

My sweetie who is cute and sweet at times. But when she is not happy, she’ll show it all out!

image

Little cheeky son gets up to my nerves at times when he showing his temper for things we don’t agree with him. He simply love to follow exactly what the elder one is doing.

They are not difficult to take care, they love to have lesson time with me, they love to play with me during our free time.

At times I hope this way of bonding stays forever. I know it’s not possible especially when they grow older.

The journey of parenting is not easy. Lots of determination need to be there in order to success.

I won’t say I’ve did the best for them, but I did tell myself, I’ve done the very basic for them. Something which they will look back in the future.

Butter steamed cakes.

image

Sometime back, I’ve tried to do a butter steam cakes. Not sure when the interest had been pick up from, but I feel that it’s good for my children to get hands on with, at the same time it will be lovely if my kids can get to have some homemade muffins.

image

This happens when I’m alone with Ayden. He tried to help me for a while before he gets bored and play with the tablet.

image

After placing the batter into various muffin cups, I’ll leave them in these mini porcelain cups before steaming them. This is supposedly to make the muffin and the cups to stay in shape.

image

It became like this when ready. Looks good?

image

All ready to be eaten!

The taste can be consider not bad especially when I can’t tell whether is it bake or steam. Looks almost the same to me. The only thing was that I did not add in any vanilla essence which made it taste not as good.

Therefore I’ll try to add in vanilla essence for my next trial(which was one week plus later)

Let’s play with fishing an alphabets

image

Someday last week, we played this activity together. I’ve cut out these alphabets felt to create a ‘fishing’ experience for them. They used this fishing rod to do fishing. My little son is so into this activity just like the elder daughter.

image

Next we did matching om alphabets. Just a very simple game, and they are happy with it. Could entertain them for quite a while.

image

And so, this was how the matching activity looks like.

image

And so, Adelle became kinda interested in this activity. That’s to find the matching words seen fr the book. It’s just another learning activity for Adelle¬†

image

Ayden is very into matching of alphabets

image

Trying hard to search for the right word.

image

Match the right number of numbers.

image

The fishing rod with homemade heart shaped

image

Another way of learning alphabets.

These day we had fun with these hands on stuff. Stay tune for more of such activities.

Art and craft (Turkey dinner theme)

image

Some time back, I’ve given one art and craft activity for my children. It’s about the theme of Turkey with the title known as ‘Turkey dinner’

image

It’s all about tear and paste whereby they need to fill up the turkey with these brown papers. All they need to do is to tear and paste them on this drumstick.

image

Of course, Adelle loves this craft work because she gets to tear and paste after which to sing the song known as Turkey dinner. It’s pretty interesting in some sort of ways. Knowing that this will greatly expand their learning interest not only by the art and craft, but also ended with a song.

image

Ayden can concentrate better when comes to pasting. It seems that he had grown so much older to understand this. He has yet to master the skill of tearing a piece of paper, but he could paste the paper quite well. It’s a good start for him.

image

At the end of the pasting, they took some crayons and give the ‘drumsticks’ with some colorings.

They had always love to color and do free drawing with crayons. So when I told them to color and design the turkey, they were all so happy to get started with.

I’m glad they had enjoyed this art and craft so much.

Let’s learn together!

image

Normally the kids love to hide in the room after their bath and do some free drawing together while waiting for the daddy to come back home.

image

They can spend a couple of time just to have free drawing. They love it and it means some free time for me to quickly surf the net for teaching ideas.

image

The cheeky man who do this work on his own. That’s to count the right pom poms to the right number seen on the tray. This will keep him occupied while I’m busy guiding Adelle on her work.

image

Still being so cheeky while doing his work.

image

This was what I meant by placing the right amt of pom poms with the number given.

image

He sure was thinking if he had gotten them right.

image

Still short of one more pom poms, Ayden

image

There you go.

image

Before the start of this activity, I’ll gather all that was needed.

image

Before the start of the activity, she loves to pose.

image

Time to get serious in doing this sight words activity.

image

And so, she started off happily and asked me for more of this activity.

image

All right, this is her work. It gets better after a fee round of trials

image

To write the texting code on the paper. It’s easy and simple!

I’ve always love to find lots of different activities that suits both 4yrs and 2yrs old child. It’s pretty challenging as it seems forever that I can’t finish reading all those blogs which was found from the Internet.

I mean that’s simply too many to follow except that I’ve to find those which I find it good and follow closely.

As not many of these activities suits my kids. I needed to find those that are suitable for them.

So therefore, those I’ve posted suits them pretty well.

Let’s have fun with farm animals sensory play.

image

Let’s hands on together!

image

The kids had sensory play with farm animals theme.

image

And so it seems that Adelle is having lotsa fun with it.

image

Ayden loves to put the these beans into the truck.

image

He is showing me every single beans found in this tub.

image

Sensory play us kinda fun for him.

image

Happy with what he had found.

image

Still feeling so happy. :)

image

Happy Adelle.

image

These are what they can play for the longest time.

Sensory play is something which the kids can spend the longest time playing. I’ll change different theme each time they get to hands on with.

Today I let them deal with farm animals. They love it somehow. It’s something for them to learn thru all these playing.

Beside farm animals, there are a couple of themes to play with, ‘sea creatures, zoo animals, garden, etc.

Art and craft with pretend play activities for the kiddos.

image

We are going to do printing with vegetables.

image

All right, the kids can’t wait to get started.

image

Wanted to take a pic while holding hands before they do the printing activity.

image

My happy children are always so happy when it’s time for art and craft.

image

A simple printing activity like this does keep them occupied for quite a while.

image

Look at them, all happy when craft work starts.

image

Adelle designs her own’Flowers ‘

image

While Ayden can’t wait to get started with what he had.

image

Still patiently doing  her work.

image

And little Ayden gets so hands on with these. He loves them all!

image

Can give me his sweetest smile while printing.

image

Of course, Adelle was glad for a printing activity after so long.

image

The children who were very satisfied with their work.

image

They thought it was fun playing like this. Adelle gotta be a singer while Ayden plays the music with his guitar.

image

It’s learning through play, I’ll call it. It’s pretend play for them. I’m sure they had a fun time playing.

image

Because they played for quite awhile.

image

And so, they ended this pretend play with a great laugh.

When I see how the kids play with each other, I could see my childhood in them. I used to play like them with my sister. We did lots of role play activities when we were young.

Now my kids played alot with each other, I’m seeing my childhood once again.

Something to keep the children occupied are pretend play, hands on activities, art and crafts, music and movement.

And so we did it!

Hands on activities (25mths old)

image

Matching activity. This time round to match the words and numbers. It’s slightly challenging for Ayden, but I feel is good to train him first.

image

Trying to find the right matching words to the numbers.

image

Building pattern blocks can be fun. Today we did building of a flower.

image

Happy Ayden. Trying to train his fine motor skill with playing with magnets.

image

Threading practice again. This time round, Ayden gets better handing this.

image

To occupy Ayden with some reading while I’m busy with the older one. He loves books like this..

image

Sometimes he gets bored after reading. :(

image

Used magnets with this activity. That’s to read out the numbers, Ayden to find the number and place a magnet on it.

image

Using magnet as well. To call out the different weather and place the magnet on it.

image

And lastly to find the different animals and their babies from the eggs and do a simple matching.

All these these activities keep Ayden ongoing on hands on activities, the homeschooling activities which I’ve planned for him.

He loves hands on activities, it’s a good sign though.
