Throw a dice and find a sightword.
This is to teach the children graphing and learning of sightwords as well.
Ground activities are always so fun!
Look what we had here?
It’s all the words starting with the letter P for the children learning. They pretty much enjoy this!
Can you spot that cheeky look on little Ayden?
He is able to listen to better instructions and will tend to follow us better compared to the past.
Now, someone is turning 3 in a few days time, it’s time that he understands better, isn’t that so?
Lately, I tried word problem with Adelle. For her age, more in writing and reading but in a fun way of learning of course.
Today I did word problem with her which I will make it once a week activity for her. Hopefully she will be able to understand this concept before she goes to primary school.
Now, this is to read a page of a story book, select a word which she don’t understand the meaning of it, using this handy dictionary to check it out.
Simple activities for Adelle. For word problem is only once a week, each time I’ll do one sum with her. This is not to stress her and to maintain her interest in word problem.
As for dictionary checking, I did this once a week as well for the same reason.
Reinforcement on counting cubes like this.
I’ve always love to do reinforcement with my children.
I feel this keep them going even if it’s something they already know of.
Rainbow teaching or what we will call it?
It means to use these colorful alphabets to form the shape of a rainbow.
From red, orange, yellow, green, blue to purple.
It’s to teach him what color comes next for a rainbow.
I believe in early teaching in a play base method.
I don’t believe in teaching in using write and read at all times.
So what’s your way of teaching a child?
Adelle had a bicycle and Ayden had a scooter.
Now this bicycle was a gift given to her from the two yiyi.
Adelle hopes to have a bicycle as her birthday gift this year. So the two yiyi bought it for her.
She was pretty much in love with it and from the picture, We can see how happy she was.
As for Ayden, he is trying very hard to use this scooter. In fact we hardly let the children try on it till last weekend.
Now with the bicycle and scooter, it gotta make their weekend full of activities!
Just two weeks back, we had decided to send Adelle for a trial class with Berries.
For those who don’t have much idea of what’s Berries, let me do a simple explanation here.
Berries emphasis on Chinese language. Yup its a preparation school for children to learn Chinese as a 2nd language.
Why do I say preparation school? That’s because personally I feel it’s a school to prepare young children in Chinese language.
As I did more English prog for Adelle at home compared to Chinese. So I’ve decided to let Adelle have a try out of it and see if she likes it.
It’s something like learning through play and the children get to sing along while learning these Chinese characters during the class.
They will have story books, worksheets for the children to work with. In fact they will have worksheets done in school and also to bring back home some homework to be done.
At the end of the class, I’ve asked Adelle if she likes the class.
She loves it!
So, most likely we will be signing her up for it as berries is always on waitlist and so happen that for the time slot the school gave us, there are still two slots to it.
Will update more about berries again. 🙂
And so, I’m baking egg tarts!
This activity is known as roll a sight word. That’s pretty fun.
Before the start of this activity, this is how the whole set up looks like.
After the whole process, it looks like this. And so, which word is the winner?
The children can really sit down and take turn to play with this activity. It’s just so amazing to see how they follow instructions and play with it.
This is about sightwords practice. Now what?
The child is to throw the dice and find the number on the dice. For eg, if the dice shows one, it will be under the column LIKE, and the child will have to leave a circle sticker on the column of LIKE.
Which ever word gets the most stickers win.
Using these sightwords to form sentences.
One of the activity which Adelle don’t really fancy, but I’ll just do like one or two sentence making with her daily.
At the very least, she is forming one or two sentences a day, it’s more than enough.
Glad to have this set of sightwords with me. 🙂
