RSAF45 exhibition

RSAF45 exhibition was held over at the open field at Compass Point last weekend.

Since we are staying nearby, we decided to check it out before heading to our destination.

We didn’t get to try the uniforms, play with the activities there, kids are not so interested with what they see, perhaps they are still very young to understand much about it then.

Puppets in the making.

Well, it’s time for art and craft again!
We are using plastic spoons, black yarn, markers, double sided tape, colored papers and we are ready to make these puppets.

Step by step, the children get to draw eyes, nose and mouth for the puppets, next comes to the sticking of black yarn on the plastic spoons.

Followed by cutting out clothes for the puppets and they are almost done up!

It’s a simple craft to keep the children occupied for quite a while, try it today!

Breakfast and lunch on Tuesday.

This homemade Nasi lemak (sherryl version) that I’ve prepared for my husband earlier this morning.
He tends to pack food from home to work say at least thrice a week. Today, I’ve decided to prepare this for him.

TV theme bento set for both children.
This theme inspired me when I saw it quite a while back and hardly could find a chance to prepare for the children.

These days, lesser bento preparation as Adelle wants to have school food as snack and I find it lazy to prepare just one set for Ayden.

On days like Thurs and Fri, that’s when Adelle needs to bring lunchbox to school, I’ll prepare simple bento for her, so Ayden gets a set as well.

Slam a sightword activity

image

Slam a sightword activity with children is one of the interesting activity I’ve did with the children so far.

It’s very easy, just have to slam on the word, read it out and place it on their own set of tray.

The children are enjoying this learning thru play activity with me. They tend to learn something our of it by playing.

They learn, they play like this everyday without fail. Any themes, be sure to see how excited and happy they will get.

It’s somehow very simple to work with. The children tend to have longer learning time with  this activity.

I’m glad it had also helped them in learning new words.

Lessons with children.

All these learning with Adelle and Ayden.
Now this post I’m going to share with you guys what Adelle and Ayden had been doing two days back.

A very simple activity for Ayden.
What he needs to do is to form a word using these magnetic alphabets.

He knows the spelling of the sightwords like Three, Four, Six, Nine, Ball, Cat, Pig, Doughnut, Apple, Orange etc.

So gotten him to form a word using what he had. Indeed, he played for the longest time for this activity.

As for Adelle, she is learning to read Time with me a few weeks back. Just two days back, the school gave a worksheet on Time and needs the child to write down the answer on the paper. Guess what, they are already teaching the child on half past three, half past four etc which no worksheets were given to let them hand on with 9.45,5.30,2.25pm etc kind of work and gave them almost immediately on half past something.

Now my take was, why the school didn’t give them worksheets like that and jump into a topic with half past something first??

It’s a good thing I’ve taught Adelle on 5,10,15,20 etc to tell a time, if not I’m sure she will be pretty confuse with what was given.

Now, I’m doing reinforcement on it and hopefully to slowly input half past XXX and quarter past, quarter before x to her.

Learn sightwords this way.

Now, the children will throw the beanbag (take turns) on the sightword they want. After which, they will read out the word before placing it on the whiteboard.

This is a good way to teach the children on sightwords.

They are learning very well this way. :)

1. Using the window panels as a ‘standing board’, got the children to be a little artists and pain their art piece.

2. Using placemat(with pond, farm theme)  for the children to lay the different type of animals belonging to the area they should be.

3. Selling buns, being a cashier, basically a pretend play activity for the children.

4. Learn thru writing on these sightwords. Place the different sightwords on the whiteboard, got the children to copy down every single word on their mini whiteboard. It’s that simple!
