Learning adventure with Adelle and Ayden

image

image

This was what we did last week. Place value activity. We have a set of three diff sizes of dice whereby it indicates hundreds, tens and ones.

All the children need to do is just throw the dice and get the digit all filled up by writing on the white laminated paper.

image

Trying out this again. Did reinforcement with Adelle.

image

Ayden did the same as well.

Maths and English activities using spinner(that was shared by Mummy Priscilla)

We did present an past tense activity together.

Place value, addition activity for the kids

Diy this timetable teaching material for the two children.

So many teaching activities to do with the kids daily, it made time passes even faster everyday while daddy is at work.

Learning is just too fun!

image

image

Did this with the two children recently. Spin the first two letters and match with the one in the grid to form a word before writing it down on that white pc of paper.

I found that learning this way makes them learn more new words by playing. :)

image

image

This is the next activity which we did together. Spin a word, find the right color after spinning and use that color to write on the word that he or she had spinned. This is something that they love it as well. :)

Word problem for the two kids. We had played this many times. It is always good to refresh their memory when we do reinforcement with the children. They recalled what we had done before.

There are simply too many activities which we can do with the kids at home. It just make learning way too fun! :)

Rory story cubes.

image

I’ve purchased this set from Taobao recently… Yes, it’s a story cubes.

How do they play with this? Firstly the child need to throw the dice and get a picture as seen on the first dice. He or she will have to try and make a sentence of it and link the sentence to the 2nd dice he or she is going to throw, all the way to the finals dice, which is the 9th dice.

It works well got children more than 5-6yo maybe. Definitely not suitable for a 4 yr old child to form a story, but can try it on Ayden to form a sentence with guidance. :)

My ‘next to do list’ will be this. :)

Images of Singapore in Changi Airport T1

Just last week, we went down to Changi Airport. Yes, we love to go to the airport for free aircon, love our viewing gallery etc.

So happen that when we went last week we saw these set up of the images of Singapore that we felt it will be best for the children to take a picture with.

So we took some of it when we were there last week. Fiy this is at T1..

Using spinner as the idea to create many more teaching materials.

image

I did some activities using spinner idea. All thanks to Mummy Priscilla (http://angels-of-dala-pris.blogspot.sg/?m=1)
for giving me the idea on trying out working with a spinner.

So after we had decided about how to work with a diy spinner.. I’ve created the above teaching material. That’s to spin both the word and the color. Once the color is spin (say green), and the word (say range), use green marker to write th word range. This goes on.

image

This is for spin + roll + spin=_____
So the child will spin a number then add the number which he or she had rolled and lastly add the number which the child spins. It’s that simple!

image

Do these sums after spinning.

image

I’m dealing with addition n subtraction here. So! The child can spin two diff numbers and do the sum either to do addition or subtraction. Here I did addition for my 6yo.

Need not print out any templates which we can diy on our own on days whereby you feel like doing ur own template.

These are some simple yet interesting diy templates for spinner that we can work with it. :)

Children.

They fight, they scream at each other, they disagree with each other, but at the end of the day, they hug each other and cry when being scolded, give tissue paper to each other if one of them cries, remember each other (go supermarket, get something for the other party who is not around.)

That’s children, or rather that’s siblings! :)

Learning tog With Adelle as well.

image

Shopkins lover. :)
Adelle is so much in love with Shopkins beside My little pony. That’s part of her birthday gifts from many of us. :)

image

My little pony shirt for her, and she finds it great and proud to wear it on her. :)

image

Same as the brother who loves to stay near this cooking area in the bedroom to prepare a ‘meal’ for me. :)

image

image

image

I did an activity similar to word problem for Adelle. Got her to read out what is expected of her before she place these numbers, minus, plus, equal signs to work the sums out.

Its fun I would say as it trained her understanding when dealing with word problem.

Learning together with Ayden.

image

This little cheeky loves Jake and the neverland pirates stuff.. He had been into Jake so much that even for Legos, he wants it to be Jake theme as well. :)

image

image

Always had been into ‘cooking’… Yup he loves to have some fun at the cooking corner of the bedroom. Playing is just too fun for him as well!

image

image

Beside so, he tends to help me out in the kitchen on days that there are no lesson in school. Yup, that’s him who loves to pluck vegetables for me, helping out in the kitchen. :)

image

image

image

Dealing with Number bond. For this age I don’t find it stress to teach him number bond for I know where his standard of learning lies. Not putting stress on him, I’ve decided to try Number bond out with him when Adelle is learning this for home lesson. He proved to me that number bond is not much of an issue for him with more trials. I’m glad. :)

Ayden abilities of learning is faster than Adelle. I don’t mean to compare both kids as all the children are diff at their pace of learning, but at times, by comparing I know where they stand, which area I should improve them on. :)

Play base learning for both.

image

image

We did this play base learning activity together. Throw both the die and to form a sentence after which.
Eg :Deb hid under the bed.

It’s fun and children get to learn how to read these words and form a sentence after that.

image

image

image

image

image

Spin a shape! Using these templates and tangrams, get the child to answer how many sides does a Pentagon, square etc has.

image

Children do a simple silent reading every evening. :)

image

It’s time to do reinforcement on Chinese on what Adelle had learned from Berries. Ayden learns it together with her. :)

Our weekend with what we did.

image

image

image

It had been a routine that we will normally pop by ikea as early as 9am om the weekend for breakfast.

Yup, it seems to be a routine now and the children are always so excited when they hear the word, ikea for breakfast?!

They can wake up almost immediately at 7am,got themselves ready to go to Ikea!

We had breakfast there and also to shop which we will always ended up with stuff to bring home. :)

image

image

image

image

One is in love with Shopkins while the other is in love with Jake and the neverland pirates.

So, they tend to bring these small toys out while waiting for food, they played.

Of course, at times I will give them some papers for them to do free drawing(as seen from ikea pics) while waiting for their food to come.

Hardly or rather never give them any electronic stuff when we are out there which I have to admit, I did gave them for a couple of mins when we are home. :)
